Dredging and sand extraction

State-of-the-art pumps and dredgers that combine performance and resistance

Dredging is becoming a crucial activity for the development of our society.

Creating new lands or developing and maintaining an efficient port network, as well as restoring the capacity and productivity of dams or opening safe and efficient waterways are basic activities to support economic growth in most countries.

Dragflow has been producing submersible pumps and dredging systems for over 25 years.

An activity started in the early 80s for coastal protection in Italy and Europe, thanks to the passion of the people and engineers working in the company, has rapidly evolved into an internationally recognized partner for the most demanding dredging projects .

SAND AND GRAVEL

The production of sand and other aggregates requires equipment that can manage high solid concentrations and deliver them at large distances.

This not only increases plant productivity, but it also drives operational costs down. Dragflow pumps and dredgers are the ideal solution, pumping up to 4000 cubic meters per hour of mixture with solid concentrations by weight up to 60%.

Our systems are designed to be compact and efficient regardless of the operation depth to guarantee the lowest operational costs possible

RIVER AND CANAL DREDGING

Maintenance operations in rivers and canals often require a variety of technologies working together to obtain the final results.

This can include shallow and deep-water dredging, preparation of the surrounding land, vegetation control and more.

Dragflow has designed a range of dredgers and pumps that can tackle all fronts based on the application.

Some of our systems feature exchangeability between the dredging pump and other hydraulic tools make them systems a multi-purpose solution.

MAINTENANCE OF HARBORS

Ports and harbors require regular maintenance dredging to allow their continuous operation.

Although these applications are usually done by large third-party contractors, Dragflow pumps can be the ideal solution for those hard-to-reach places where other dredging technologies cannot reach.

The ability to mount a dredging pump on an excavator machine provides an optimal solution for precise and focused dredging even for those difficult places.

BEACH REPLENISHMENT

Erosion plays an important role in shaping beaches and other coastal areas.

The constant movement of the swells carry material away from the beach, eroding its surface.

Dragflow pumps have been a key element in these projects, being a compact system with full mobility.

The higher solid concentrations moved by the Dragflow pumps have a very positive impact on overall project costs and efficiency while the ability of the pumps to work at any depth also allows the recovery of the sand from any point offshore.

MARINA MAINTENANCE

Private docks and marinas require regular maintenance dredging to avoid sediment buildup under the boats and specially in the area surrounding the entrance to the Marina.

Water recirculation through these areas carries a large amount of sediments that ultimately settle in the bottom, creating a risk for boat owners and maintenance managers.

Dragflow’s compact dredging systems allow these maintenance operations to be carried out without removing the boats from the marina or intervening in any way its normal operation.

MAINTENANCE OF DAMS AND LAKES

The dredging of hydropower dams requires equipment that can safely work at large working depths while at the same time maintaining high solid concentrations.

What is more important is that the operation of the dam itself cannot be interrupted under any circumstances.

Dredging of hydropower dams usually requires the cleaning of the discharge valves located at the bottom of the dam or the removal of coarser solids located farther from the dam wall itself.

In both cases, turbidity is a major concern since some of this water is also used for cities and other surrounding areas.

Dragflow pumps and DRH dredgers have been specifically designed for these high depth applications, providing unbeatable productivity and small dimensions to maintain capital and operational costs at a minimum while at the same time maintaining the operation environmentally friendly by managing turbidity and other risk factors.

BARGE OFFLOADING

In some dredging operations the dredged material is first loaded into a hopper barge that carries the material to its final discharge location.

Once the material reaches the site, it’s possible that it has lost most of its moisture and has compacted on the barge hopper.

Dragflow pumps can efficiently do both jobs at the same time, breaking the material from its compacted state and diluting it into a homogeneous slurry with high solid concentrations that the pump then takes to its final disposal area. Unloading a barge has never been easier.
