2017 CAMEROUN: SAND EXTRACTION IN THE RIVER MOUNGO WITH DRAGFLOW PUMPS
2017 CAMEROUN
Project description
One of the biggest sand quarries on the Moungo river in Cameroun is now relying only on Dragflow pumps for their sand extraction, proving our equipment can be extremely efficient even for the toughest applications.
The problem
The Moungo river in Cameroun has always been known for having the best quality sand for construction purposes around Douala.
The river is 150 kilometres (93 mi) long, rising in the Rumpi Hills and swelled by tributaries from Mount Kupe and the Bakossi mountains. The Moungo sand has always been known for its top quality for construction purposes and it is now Dragflow pumps doing the extraction right off the river bed.
One of the main issues here is the high quartz concentration, mostly due to neighboring volcanic activity, which can be extremely abrasive for metal components.
The solution
The quarry is running on two Dragflow EL604B pumps producing an average of 100 trucks of sand per day.
The pumps are working up to 15m depth (depending on the season) and have started providing a continuous supply of sand to the different construction projects in Douala.
Only Dragflow pumps can handle this environments, and only Dragflow pumps can become the centerpiece of such an aggressive application.
